Aug. 19, 2021 4:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Join the Rotary Straight Shooters on Thusday August 19 as we enjoy a outing breaking clay targets at the Waukesha Gun Club. We’ll meet at 4:30 p.m. in the clubhouse and shoot Sporting Clays by walking the course and shooting from stands with different target presentations. It's very much like golf, except we'll use shotguns instead of clubs (and there are no water hazzards to drop a ball in!). Feel free to bring your friends. Anyone new to shooting is welcome. We’ll have seasoned shooters to coach and help you out. If you don’t have a shotgun, contact Harry Farchmin, and we’ll arrange for one of our members to bring one for you to use. The club also has shotguns for rent. Shot shells can be purchased at the club. After shooting, we’ll gather for some refreshments and socializing. |

Life After Grief
Oct. 22, 2021
At one time or another we all will all experience loss and grief. It may be the death of someone close, a divorce, the loss of a job, a miscarriage, a chronic illness, an injury, or any number of traumatic events. Life After Grief offers an understanding of the experience of loss and grief, and lays out pathways of healing for those who are hurting, and advice for those trying to help those who mourn. The book address questions like:
Getting through grief is not just about answering questions, however. Those who grieve need ways to cope, ways to hold on, ways to know they are not alone. And they need ways to find the comforting presence of God. The book also deals with the severe forms of loss we call trauma. Life After Grief also offers practical ways to move through the process of grieving, like:
Life After Grief not only offers a lifeline for those who mourn, but also provides an understanding of the dynamics of grief to friends and family helping the person dealing with loss. Mel Lawrenz (Ph.D., Marquette University) is minister at large for Elmbrook Church in Brookfield, WI, and director of The Brook Network (www.thebrooknetwork.org). |

Gerrymandering
Jan. 07, 2022
The Fair Elections Project is working to change how politics works in the United States and help end the partisan gridlock that grips the nation. When elections don’t really matter because the district lines determine which party will be in control, the people don’t have a voice. This is contrary both to our historical tradition of fairness and the Constitutional requirement that all voters are equal citizens. |
