The ERC Club Service Committee has had a busy month starting with the Packer Party on November 23 to watch the game against the Minnesota Vikings at Mo's Irish Pub in Wauwatosa. A total of 20 people showed up and while the majority of people were Packer fans, 2 were Patriots fans, and there were single fans of the Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, and Denver Broncos. Everyone enjoyed getting together and watching the game despite how close the final score was!

Then on December 5, Club Members took part in volunteering at the German Holiday Market near the Brookfield City Hall. This was the second year in a row that we've supported the event by sponsoring the Hayride Wagon. Almost two dozen members took part throughout the afternoon.

With over 20 vendors and plenty of German touches, the event offered a number of traditional German performances before and after the tree lighting at 4:50 p.m., along with several indoor activities, including a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The holiday market is another opportunity for cultural exchange as part of their association with Brookfield's sister city, Seligenstadt in Germany. In organizing the first holiday market two years ago, the Sister City Committee had help from United Donauschwaben, an organization of ethnic Germans living in Wisconsin, to model it closely after traditional German markets. In recent years, Officials from the Brookfield and Seligenstadt have taken part in an exchange program, as have local students. In addition to the food and crafts sold by vendors, Brookfield's Sister City Committee sold ornaments, and high school German clubs sold advent calendars and used German books.

And finally, Chris Spresser who is the Chairperson of the Club Service Committee, held an open house at her home on Thursday, December 18. A dozen or so members attended for the festivities and celebrate the season with some holiday cheer. Thanks to Chris for coordinating this event and getting everyone in the spirit!
