At the February 16th Sunrise Meeting, Sarah Pinto, Principal of the 95th Street (MPS) School shared the love of her school and thanked the ten Rotary Tutors for their dedication to her students. Sarah has served in various positions within the MPS system since 2003. Prior to becoming the Principal at the 95Th St. School, she was the Vice Principal at the Starms Discovery Learning Center for 4 years. She has served as Principal for the past seven years with the philosophy that “all students can learn at high levels when given a positive learning environment, strong and knowledgeable leadership, an encouraging school community, and support of the family”.
Principal Pinto thanked the Club for their generous donations of school and recess supplies for the kids. She also recognized the efforts and commitment of the 10 ERC Tutors. “Students working with our tutors are making academic gains in the areas of reading and math and making a positive impact on our school community.”
The 95th Street School serves its surrounding neighborhood families with many of the students being able to walk to school. It is the Gem of the Northwest Region with 425 students and a class average size of 30 kids. There are many opportunities for the students to participate in ranging from sports to several clubs.
The staff and teachers are very proud of their students and families. This neighborhood Gem fosters positivity within their students through fostering the Six Character Traits and the 95th Street Creed.

Every morning the students resight the following:
95th Street Creed
I am lovable, teachable, and smart.
I am destined for greatness.
It is up to me, if it is to be.
I will make choices that will shape my future.
I will spread kindness to everyone around me.
I will persevere and do my best work, even when things get tough.
It is up to me, if it is to be.
I will show integrity by doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
I will accept others and encourage them to be themselves.
I will be responsible, respectful, and safe.
It is up to me, if it is to be.
