Another great morning, volunteering at Feeding America. Fifteen members spent 2.5 hours sorting and boxing 9,250 pounds of non-food items.
Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin is the largest hunger‑relief organization in the state, serving neighbors facing hunger across 35 counties in eastern Wisconsin. The organization distributes food and essential non‑food items through a network of over 400 food pantries and partner programs, helping families, children, and seniors access nutritious resources when they need them most.

The organization sources food through donations from growers, manufacturers, retailers, and community partners, while also purchasing fresh produce, dairy, and protein to meet nutritional needs. Volunteers are critical to this effort, helping sort, package, and distribute food at facilities in Milwaukee and Appleton.
Feeding America accepts several types of support:
  • Monetary donations, including one‑time or recurring gifts.
  • Corporate food donations, such as perishable, non‑perishable, close‑dated, private‑label, or discontinued products.
  • In‑kind non‑food donations, including household cleaning supplies, paper products, personal care items, diapers, and logistics equipment like boxes and pallets.
Volunteering is also a key way to help. Individuals, families, and corporate groups can participate in weekday shifts focused on food sorting and packing, directly supporting local pantries and meal programs.
