Join the Rotary Straight Shooters on April 15 as we enjoy a shotgun outing breaking clay targets while social distancing at the Waukesha Gun Club. We’ll meet at 4:30 p.m. and shoot Sporting Clays by walking the course and shooting form stands with different target presentations. It's very much like golf, except we'll use shotguns instead of clubs.

Feel free to bring your friends. Anyone new to shooting is welcome. We’ll have seasoned shooters to coach and help you out. If you don’t have a shotgun, contact Harry Farchmin, and we’ll arrange for one of our members to bring one for you to use. The club also has shotguns for rent.

After shooting, we’ll gather for some refreshments and socialize while keeping our social distance.

Single-stream (also known as “fully commingled” or "single-sort") recycling refers to a system in which all paper fibers, plastics, metals, and other containers are mixed in a collection truck, instead of being sorted by the depositor into separate commodities (newspaper, paperboard, corrugated fiberboard, plastic, glass, etc.) and handled separately throughout the collection process. In single-stream, both the collection and processing systems are designed to handle this fully commingled mixture of recyclables, with materials being separated for reuse at a materials recovery facility (MRF). The single-stream option replaces the dual-stream option, which is where people separate certain recyclable materials and place them in separate containers for collection. 

Join us for a super fun after work social at the area's first football bowling venue on Wednesday, April 28th.  1st and Bowl is a little off the beaten path and is located at 2969 N 114th St. in Wauwatosa.  In addition to football bowling they have Basketball Connect Four and Bean Bag Toss games.

Milwaukee REP Director of Development

Ellen Lemis a professor of English and Gender Studies at UW-Milwaukee at Waukesha and her recent book Gray Matters: Finding Meaning in the Stories of Later Life looks at how people think about aging and what has influenced that perspective.  She looks at TV shows (like "Grace and Frankie"), films ("The Intern") and literature to show that these cultural texts can show us possibilities for aging but also can provide negative messages. Aside from bringing in the latest research on work/retirement, dementia, housing, intimacy and much more, she also include interviews with over 200 people who are over 65 to bring in their insights as well. The expected result is to look at aging in new and unpredictable ways, which she think is necessary since many people only associate becoming older with decline.

We walk because less than 20% of kids graduate from high school in Guatemala. We walk to support education for students living in poverty, so that they can graduate and help end generational poverty for their family. We walk for the kids just starting school, where they will likely hold a book for the first time. We walk so families have access to quality health care. We walk to help young people dream, grow, and succeed.
