Joining ERC

Elmbrook Rotary Club warmly welcomes new members.

Membership is by invitation, but we always are looking to learn more about leaders and potential leaders in the Milwaukee Metro area: please tell us more about yourself by directly e-mailing club membership coordinator Mark Thurner (mark.thurner(at)elmbrookrotary.org), completing the inquiry form, and visiting an ERC weekly meeting.

ERC allows members to capture their passions in service while advancing their professional careers and balancing their family lives.  Club members are selected from community leaders for their leadership and commitment to making a difference:

  • Each member joins ERC with the understanding that he or she can change the world.  Each joins with the understanding that participation in community and international service is ongoing and requires commitment all year long.  "Service Above Self" is our motto.

  • Each member is a leader in her/his profession, and each understands the importance of using her/his professional skills as the most intelligent way to make a difference in peoples' lives--both locally and around the world.

  • Each member makes a commitment to ethical business and personal conduct.

  • Members understand the importance of attending weekly meetings (7 AM on Fridays) plus various service and planning activities outside of service time.

We take great care to integrate new members and make sure they find their place in ERC:

  • Each member is enlisted in the "Red Badge Program" to teach members about the club, encourage personal bonds among club members, and let the club as a whole get to know new members.

  • Rotary mentorships--with newer members paired up with older members--are very common.

  • All members are able to choose which "Avenue of Service" they wish to join (Community, International, Vocational or Club service) so they can pursue their particular service interests.  The club always is on the lookout for good service opportunities, so if a new member is passionate about a project, he/she may be able to get the club involved.

  • New members quickly find their way into club leadership.

Again, please tell us more about yourself by directly e-mailing club membership coordinator Mark Thurner (mark.thurner(at)elmbrookrotary.org), completing the inquiry form, and visiting an ERC weekly meeting.
