2011 Spikes for Tykes

What is Spikes for Tykes? Spikes is an annual fundraiser started by Elmbrook Rotary in 1988, initially to benefit Polio Plus.  Since then, the proceeds have been directed to the CAP Fund, then to fund our pledge to the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts, and now to various charitable causes. Since inception, we have raised over $420,000. Click here to see the organizations that benefitted from donations raised at last year's event.

The event is a day of volleyball during which entered teams play for one hour against other opponents that they request, or teams which are assigned at random. The level of play is strictly recreational, and only for fun.  Most teams are coed.

Where do the teams come from?

We get sponsors, including large and small businesses, individuals and organizations, who will field one or more teams at $150.00 per team.  We also get "youth team" sponsorships from those contributors who do not wish to organize a team.  Each playing team receives 6 long-sleeve Spikes for Tykes commemorative T-shirts, and we also send one shirt to each youth team sponsor.  WE ENCOURAGE ALL SPONSORS TO HAVE PLAYING TEAMS.

How do we RAISE OUR FUNDS?

We raise our funds from sponsorship donations (less the costs of printing the T-shirts) plus the proceeds of raffles, silent auction items and concessions. Click here to see a list of sponsor from last year's event.

When and where?

This year’s event will be held Saturday, June 4th at Mitchell Park in Brookfield (WI). This location provides a great, family atmosphere that’s perfect for spending a day in the park. Click here for a map with the event location.
